HAIR TRANSPLANT – Overview Of The Procedure

Women would always give importance to their hair. They consider it as their crowning glory. They would often have it long while some women would have it short. However, not all hairs are the same. There are those people who are lucky enough to have what we call as perfect hair because it is smooth, thick and straight. There are those who would have their hair long but dry or thin. Continues thinning of the hair can most likely result to baldness. Being bald is not a big issue for men only to women. For women, being bald is not a common thing and is considered to be abnormal.

When a man or woman gets signs of consistent hair loss or thinning, hair transplant will be a good option in order for the bald area to be concealed. This is a procedure wherein there is planting on the live roots from the giver area at the back up to the scalp going to the bald area roots at the back of the scalp or those that are resistant to fall.

Hair transplant follows the direction of the hair growth in order to make it appear natural. Just like the natural hair, transplanted hair can also be washed, colored, cut and shampooed. For a bald area, it may require two to three surgeries is needed averaging from fifteen hundred to twenty five hundred grafts are to be implanted. Hair transplant can be done in two methods. First, is the strip method which is more invasive for it involves cutting a strip of one's skin that is found at the back of the scalp to which sutures are placed on the hair roots and compounded and planted on the area that is bald. It will leave a scar which will be visible when you have your head shaved. This is a procedure that is entails loss of blood, has sutures involved and scars. If there is one that has suturing and scarring and loss of blood, there is now one procedure for hair transplant that is noninvasive. This is the method that we call as DHI. In this method, the it is the hair roots that are directly extracted at the back of the scalp and are transplanted on the bald area which is much safer than the previous method mentioned. This method is free from scar, blood loss, suture and has no side effects. The outcome of the hair transplant procedure depends on the way on how it was done. They are: proper donor extraction and closing, proper unit follicular dissection, proper graft hydration and retention, recipient site creation using correct angulation, direction, and arrangement, natural hairline plan, carefully placing of grafts with correct technique to avoid alteration, and proper after surgery care.

Hair transplant has been a good solution to baldness. Being bald can lower our self esteem especially when people will tend to laugh at us. It is great that hair transplant is now possible in order to address the problem with baldness.
